London Magician Deja Vu
On Saturday I had a Children's Party in Brockley in a church hall. It was a pirate party and all the kids were dressed as pirates. We slightly tailored the magic show to fit the theme and after the show I left at 3pm. The kids were happy the parents were happy and I went home as I had another show in the evening for some adults in a pub in Dulwich.
Had a shower and changed and then got ready for a 50th birthday party. They wanted Close Up Magic in a walk around situation in a private room they had hired for the evening. I was asked to just keep going until I had covered the room of about 60 people. As I went around one group told me that they used to come to the West Norwood Hall and had seen me perform there for a charity event. Another person said he had read about me and was I the one that had all his props stolen. Everywhere I went someone knew me from somewhere.
When I was leaving I was going down the stairs and heard some people talking - with comments like "That Magician was ****ing amazing" and "How the **** did he do tha Magic Trick". I stopped and let them catch me up below and said I was glad that the comments had been so positive. They asked for a card as they were also having a do in the future and they saw how much I'd contributed to the event. We talked and then I left to go through the pub.
As I walked through the pub doors there in front of me was a five year old birthday boy - still in his pirate costume from the party earlier on in the day - it was now after 10pm. We stopped and chatted and it had been the mum's birthday party as well - so they had gone out for an evening meal. We were a few miles from Brockley and not sure who was more surprised - me or them.
